I just stumbled on this posting a moment before logging out, and want to tell you I empathize, being currently dependent on a cane, needed to stabilize my walking with an increasingly arthritic right hip joint. But I couldn't resist whimsically telling you that a youngster like you really has no business being in that fix! Anyway, I fervently hope you'll be free of it soon!

Again, best regards -- John Hedenberg

'Nuther Note: When you are walking about in the mountains there is nothing quite so nice to have as a nice walking stick that is about eye-high, and a nice grasping diameter.

I also like a point on my walking stick, as a rule, and I like to wrap a nice long section of the stick with cord for a better and more comfortable grip.

I have a few hickory sticks; it takes them a long time to dry and cure but once dried they are very, very, light and of course virtually unbreakable.

ColdSteel.com has several nice canes and sticks for good prices.

Enjoy,

Have fun with the sticks Joe. I have to use one at times. I have two large containers full of canes and walking sticks next to my door and I keep a few in the back of my cars, for when I want to use one.

Enjoy...

Canes are all the rage, y'know. Let's see... there was the Johnny Smith character on Dead Zone until he got rid of it. Now there's House M.D. So you're in good company.
